Imari lidded bowls

Description

Imari lidded bowls, underglaze-blue with overglaze enamels. Exquisitely painted on exterior in reserves of alternating cobalt and white slylized chrysthanemum, red lantern berry, and white ho-o bird (phoenix) motifs. Ring-banded on inside at top with blue underglaze and white negative space to a blue double-ring band in the center enclosing pale blue dragon. Each lid delicately painted both inside and outside in themes echoing the bowl. Inside the lid finials with characters “Fuki Choshun” (prosperity, long spring). Lids serviceable separately as sauce cups. 4-1/2” (11.4 cm) diameter. 2-1/2” (6.4 cm) high. $150 ea; set of 7, $1150.
