Description
Oribe-syle pottery bowl (hachi)with stylized, brown day lily drawn with a free hand over classic oribe tan crackle glaze and thick, dark green-dripped overglaze. The potted bowl becomes a canvas for calligraphy, landscape, and abstract painting as influenced by the innovative Kyoto artist Ogata Kenzan (1663 – 1743). Late Edo period. 6” (15 cm) diameter, fluted rim.
